Revlon Gum Drop

I love my purples and my neutrals and this polish seems to have both. I know purple is not a neutral but grey is and this nail polish is both, claps hands. Gum drop by Revlon is a cream polish that is a very light lavender purple with a grey tone to it, very pretty. The best thing is that it is a scented polish and smells just like Dots, at least to me.

This is two coats of the polish with no top coat. I change my polish to often to use a top coat every time. I thought it would look chalky but it really doesn't, though it is a bit spotty. I recommend a third coat.

Kardashian collection

I am just about as peeved as one can get. I wanted this collection in the worst way, and by the time I go to get it, there are only a couple colors left, GRRRR! So I pick up these two colors out of the Kardashian collection by Nicole from OPI and take them so just happy to have my claws on a couple of the glitters. I had to swatch them immediately, of coarse. Terrible, Terrible Terrible, I couldn't even get the pics to work right for me, Insert scream here.

In the above swatch I used two coats of the polish and a caot of Seche Vita. This one is called Wear Something Spark-Kylie and I was pretty excited about it. Nice girly pink glitter, I mean come on gorgeous or what. On the nail it seemed to get kind of a coral hint to it though not much. The Glitter was flaking off and the polish dried really rough. It felt awful to have on. I put the top coat on which put an end to the flaky glitter but the worst is yet to come.

For this swatch I used three coats of the polish which ended up being lumpy due to the gloopy nature of the polish. This one is called Kendall On The Katwalk, and they better sweep after she goes down it. The glitter in this one flaked off even worse then on the other polish in this post and was rough as well. I needed three coats of this one to get it to look half way decent. The Seche Vita improved the look and stopped the flaking for this polish as well. But the worst of it, after all that wanting and waiting and work, the polishes chipped off. 90 % of it was gone in an hour. Very displeased with this collection!

Another Playtime Session with Midnight Magic

I know I have said this before, but I love Midnight Magic by Covergirl Boundless Colors. I tried it with another overlay and I like this a whole bunch as well. For this swatch I used three coats of Midnight Magic, one coat of Sally Hansen HD Lasar, and one coat of Seche Vita. this pic doesn't really do the combo a great deal of justice but you are able to see a bit of what it looks like. It has that hidden color effect to it which I think is very cool. The layer of Laser makes this polish look like a dark navy blue with flashes of royal purple.

Milani: 530 Gems

This looked like a great party polish to me. With the holiday season already here, I can see this nail polish being the trim for many a party look. This is three coats of Milani 530 Gems and one coat of Seche Vita top coat. It has the right mix of colored glitter, in a clear base, for the holidays, I think. This nail polish was pretty easy going on and it didn't flake off for me. All in all a great polish, even the drying time wasn't too bad.

Silver Panda

I was given this Pin for my birthday by my parents. Panda was a childhood nickname for me and I have collected a few over the years, mostly from my parents, LOL. I don't remember the gram weight on this pin but it is a heavy sucker. This panda pin is made of precious sterling silver with a bit of black enamel. I haven't worn it yet but it will probably be worn in my hair as most are, though I have a black shearling coat that may get adorned with it, Hmmm.

Midnight Magic and Nicole

I loved Midnight Magic by Cover Girl Boundless Colors, I just had to play with it a little bit. This is Midnight Magic with Nicole....Spotted by OPI in the the Nicole line of polishes. I am one of those people that is obsessed with the night sky and this application reminds me a lot of the night sky when it is clear black and full of brightly colored stars. In this swatch I used three coats of Midnight Magic, two coats of Nicole....Spotted and one coat of Seche Vita.

Grey's Anatomy

I have wanted this polish since it first came out and it has always been sold out, another popular nail polish for this year. There have been so many. I finally got a hold of it as you can see and I am glad that I did. It is a great duochrome nail polish with colors of grey purple and green in it. It would be a great polish for spring but I enjoy the contrast it would have with the snow in the winter. This is two coats of Grey's Anatomy with one coat of my favorite Seche Vita top coat. It shines to high heaven with this particular top coat on it.

London Blue Ring

When I saw this ring I absolutely had to have it. I had never really seen London Blue Topaz before and I fell in love instantly. This ring is one of only a few that I have actually bought for myself, but like I said, I had to have it. The center stone is a whopping two and a half carats, wow. On each side of the ring are a small round rhodalite garnet, madiera citrine, and a peridot. all under.10 carats. the metal is platinum over sterling silver. This ring just shines. I wear it often with my blue jeans actually. One would think that this is a dress up ring but I like it with my casual clothes and moods. I get lots of comments on it when i wear it out and about, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Though my wedding set still steals the show, LOL!

Midnight Magic

This is Midnight Magic by Cover Girl Boundless Colors. Though this line of Cover Girl nail polish doesn't seem to be too terribly popular, this particular polish seems to be on many wish lists. It was sold out every time I looked for it for months. Finally, I got my nails on it, or the other way around LOL, and it was worth the wait. I must say before I rave, it had a tendency to bubble on me and I don't shake my polish bottles. See bubble on ring finger. :(

That being said, I love this shade. It is a velvety dark slate grey black and is still very shimmery. This first coat was a little streaky but evened out on the second. I used 3 coats anyway as so many polishes look better that way and it has become habit for me, but I could have gotten away with two. The formula was better then I expected due to experience with others in this particular cover girl line. It was thick but not overly so, and not watery and thin like others in the line. For the most part Midnight Magic went on very well.
This is a quick shot of the polish with Seche Vita top coat. Usually this top coat adds to the shine and sparkle in a nail polish, though here it almost seems to dull it a bit. Still a stunning color. Midnight Magic looks amazing by itself or with other polishes layered over it. This is easily one of my fav's.

I Have Failed My Readers!!

As I said, I have failed my readers. I do sincerely apologize and a reason. I have a 1 month old as of 2 days ago. My pregnancy was horrible and I spent a good deal of it in the hospital. Baby is out and we are both now doing well. I will be back to posting more often though it will be an uphill battle as I finish my recovery and get organized again. Right before I learned my husband and I were having a new bundle of joy, I began making plans to expand my blog to accommodate almost all aspects of a woman's life. I am still hashing out the details and scaling it back a bit. Hope you all enjoy the expansion! Our New Bundle Of Joy!!

Dragonfly Necklace

One of my favorite things about summer is getting to see the dragonflies. This is the perfect time of the year as they are everywhere in my part of the world. I got this necklace for my birthday from my mom and dad as they know how much I love dragonflies. This murano glass inspired pendant is from the J Francis collection and is a bit over an inch high and wide. It is a fun piece of jewelry to wear as animal/insect pieces so often are. I may have to wear this in the end of winter when I have spring fever and need a bit of fun. :)

Mossy Britches

This is Mossy Britches by Nina Ultra Pro. I saw this polish on another blog and couldn't decide if it was really for me or not. I loved the color but would I like it on me? Would anybody else? My mom happened to pick this up not knowing I was debating it. I saw it on her and jumped all over it. Who, what, when, where, why, LOL? So I immediatley borrowed and swatched it. I LOVE it and so did others. Big Smiles there. She picked it up at Sally Beauty and I think I will too.

This is two coats with no top coat. I think I should have used a top coat, not because it chips or anything like that but the gold in it would come out better. I have had it on for about a week and I have only suffered a bit of tip wear, not bad at all. I will say that the formula left me a bit skeptical. I can't say why really it just didn't feel right, but when it was dry all the septiscism was all but gone.

Blurple Pearls

BLURPLE PEARLS!!!!! These are so awesome, I just love them. I must say blue and purple mixes of any kind have become a favorite of mine. My mom gave me these as a just because present. She had bought herself and my sister and I a pair for Christmas but didn't like them so she just put them away and forgot about them. We got them a couple months later and decided they were fabulous.

These are color treated natural freshwater pearls. I am not sure on the size but I am guessing about a 6 millimeter. They came with this great pouch to store them in so they don't get dirty. These pop out so brightly against the skin it is amazing.

Zoya Matte Savita with Seche Vita Top Coat

I just hate to wreck a good matte nail polish but for Seche Vita it is so worth it. :) This is threee coats of Zoya Savita, one cute little Fleur De Lis nail decal, and one coat of Seche Vita fast dry top coat.

Seche Vita top coats make any nail polish shine to the best of its potential. I know it looks like my nails are chipped here but they aren't that is just the shine from the top coat. I decided to play with some nail decals that were given to me as a gift. I don't often use them but I thought this was kind of cute.

Zoya Matte Savita

I have just adored the Zoya nail polishes I have and this one is no exception. I love a good matte nail polish but so many end up chalky and I really hate that. Savita by Zoya from their Matte Velvet Winter Collection is a rich almost slate stone like deep purple and it almost shines on its own, definitely not chalky.

This is three coats of Savita though I think two would have done the trick. Like most matte polishes this one is a bit thick and dries fast, but not the worst I have ever dealt with, probably the best in fact. The color is almost a blackened purple but kind of reminds me of a dark blurple in the right light. It would go great with a pearl necklace I have.

J Francis Earrings

I got these amazingly beautiful earrings from my hubby for Christmas last year and have worn them several times. I think they are the prettiest thing I have seen in a long time, that is as far as earrings are concerned, lol. Thanks again babe! I get lots of compliments on them each and every time I wear them so I must not be the only one who thinks they are fantastic. The designers name is J Francis and they are in what is called the Colors of Nature Collection.

These earrings are set in 925 sterling silver with a 950 platinum overlay. (Platinum, I know right, I really love my hubby!!!) There are 4 small chrome or Russian diopsides in each earring, 1 on top, 2 in the middle and 1 on bottom. They are kind of hard to see in the pic but they stand out in life. The top flower is done in rhodalite garnet and the bottom flower and drop brio bead are amethyst. Aren't these great for both spring and summer? I wear them whenever because I just love them so much, but I think they are best suited to months when the flowers grow.

Milani: 531 Gold Swatch

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!! I adore this polish. It is Milani 531 Gold. I know some of you are saying that this is a great polish for the winter holidays and you are absolutely right but I like to wear bold and large gold pieces in the summer and this goes with that theme for me. :) Think LBD!!

For this swatch I used three coats of this amazing glitter nail polish from Milani. This is a clear base lacquer with larger sized hexagonal gold glitter particles. I used a top coat on this though I can not remember now which one I used. I think it was Blown Glass by Cover Girl in their Boundless colors collection.

Quick Tips: Get a Bracelet On A Bit Easier

Once you have chosen your bracelet and realize it is one of those with a clasp, don't worry, you won't be made late this time. Tape one end of the bracelet to your wrist. This will keep it from sipping all over the place or falling. If you tape far enough down your arm you may be able to employ the use of both hands to get that darn clasp to go together.

Wet 'n' Wild Heavy Metal

Every now and again I like a good black nail Polish and this one seems to be a great go to for me when I do want one. Wet 'n' Wild Heavy Metal is a dark black with silver shimmer in it. It has kind of a thin formula at first but gets really thick if you don't hurry. Here it is pictured with Seche Vita Topcoat.

Vintage Shoe Clips

I just had to have these amazing things when I found them, oh the possibilities. I picked these Vintage Shoe Clips up at a local church sale for around $1.00. I don't really intend on wearing them with my shoes, but to secure a scarf, on a belt or jacket etc.... LOL!! I included two shots of these great accessories for you to feast your eyes on.

Sally Hansen Insta Dri Blue-Away with Crackle

I only own a few Sally Hansen Insta Dri polishes due to the size of the brush and generally the formula is a bit thick for my liking. This was no exception but I worked with it and the process went fairly smooth. Blue-Away is a light blue creme polish and I used three coats to get it opaque and smooth, the dry time is not so instant on this polish though.

For this shot I applied Sally Hansen Crackle Nail Polish in Fractured Foil. The effect was not what I wanted, it barely shows up in the sun. :(

Here is a second shot of the polish that you can see a little better but not much.

I decided to finish the manicure off with China Glaze Holographic top coat and this helped to show off the silver surprisingly well. I added two shots of this so you could get a good look at it.

Zoya Diedra With Gold Crackle

Zoya is a recent love of mine. I found them some time ago on the internet and was hesitant to spend so much to try out a good sampling. It took awhile but I found a local outlet that had them and bought a few on sale. I have ordered several now. :)

I used three coats of this Zoya Diedra for this manicure to make sure it was a nice solid color on my nails. I love the lavender with gold shimmer in it. This polish dries quickly, I love it.

I applied one thick coat of Sally Hansen Crackle Nail Polish in Antiqued Gold to match the already gold shimmer in the polish and I must say I like the romantic look of it.

I applied one coat of China Glaze Holographic top coat to finish the manicure. I like the way it brings out the sparkle of the duo together but i think I might have been just as happy with Seche Vita. LOL!! I gave you a couple shots of this to look at none the less.

80's Blue and Pink Bright Nail Polish

I have a ton of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear nail polish that is waiting to be swatched as I fell in love with them awhile back and found an amazing sale. This Xtreme Wear is called Blue Me Away and as you can see it is a very bright blue creme polish. I used three coats to get this smooth as it wanted to be a bit thick and hard to handle. FYI: I wore this polish for less then 24 hours and it stained my nails baby blue :( )

For this shot I applied one coat of Sally Hansen Crackle Nail Polish in Fuschia Shock. This turned out so totally 80's, which is not me but hey, others might like it.

And a second shot of the duo.

For this manicure I finished up with one coat of China Glaze Matte Magic, which I love dearly and it didn't diappiont me this time either. All in all a great mani, even though I don't like the 80's style much.

Ring My Shell by Sally Hansen with Extra's

After getting my new crackle polishes I just had to play with all of my nail polish, but with over three hundred bottles it was hard to decide where to begin. What better place then my back log of awesomeness that has been calling my name for a while now. Ring my Shell by Sally Hansen Complete Manicure was the base coat for this completed manicure. I used two coats of this shimmery pale pink polish.

Another shot of this rather pale or nude shade of pink, at least on me. Darker skin tones might have better luck, but it is still pretty.

This next shot is of Ring My Shell with one coat of Sally Hansen Crackle nail polish in Vintage Violet. I actually like where this is going. The formula on this crackle was a bit thinner then the others I have tried but still dries super fast.

I decided to finish the manicure off with China Glaze Matte Magic as a top coat. Although I like the effect I think the above swatch without it was better. Maybe next time I will use my fav Seche Vita top coat instead.

Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat Collection

Well finally here they are!!! I have been dying to get my hands on a crackle or a shatter nail polish since I first saw one. Problem was I looked around locally and never found any and then by the time I would look online they were sold out everywhere. UHG!! My husband and I were out shopping one day and the new display for Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat had just gone up. When we saw them he just decided I needed to have the whole set. HUGS to my Hubby, LOL!!

They are named as in the picture from left to right: 01 Snow Blast, 02 Vintage violet, 03 Fractured Foil, 04 Fuchsia Shock, 05 Distressed Denim, 06 Antiqued Gold, 07 Cherry Smash, and 08 Ink Splatter. I have already been trying them out with other polishes, oh what fun it has been. Swatches and reviews coming soon!!

Milani Foxy Lady

I live in a part of the world that seems to be fighting the coming of summer. It is cold and rainy a lot lately and just kind of feels like fall. It has put me in the mood for a rich harvest color like Foxy Lady by Milani. This is sort of a dark burnt orange color with a metallic like finish. In this swatch I used three coats of the polish, though two might have done the trick, and no top coat. Although I like the color of this polish it is not one I often reach for. I think it is because it has a bit more red in it than I like with my skin.

Milani Collection

Here is a quick shot of my Milani nail polish collection. I haven't managed to add to many polishes to this collection because they are not all that readily available to me and the local outlet for them is highly overpriced. Still, I have nine bottles of Milani nail polish so I have managed at least a few. LOL

Sally Hansen Insta-Dry: Jumpin Jade

I love a dark green nail polish same as the next but this one is admittedly one of the better. I do not care for the brush in these bottles as much but I can still work with it. Jumpin Jade has a decent formula that was easy to work with but as far as it being a fast dry nail polish well......, I guess not bad but not really that fast. In this swatch I used two coats of polish and no top coat. It has an almost matte finish to it but not quite.

Choosing a Blush Color

When you are trying to choose the best color of blush, match it to the color of your skin after you exercise. This will allow you to choose a color that will look you are naturally blushing. I advise that you take a picture of yourself right after your workout and use it to match your blush.

Zoya Loredana with Hidden Treasures

Lately I seem to have a rather large obsession with using Hidden Treasures by Sally Hansen over everything. This mix is not my favorite of the bunch but still it has potential. Loredana is my first polish by Zoya and I must say I love it. I think I have found another polish brand to add to my collectors list, just what I needed, LOL! This is just one coat of Hidden Treasures over Loredana but I think it is enough. The effect is a little more subtle then I normally like but with this slate color I feel it is appropriate.

Beach Set

I got this cute little set as a free gift with a magazine subscription. Although it is not very big it is a good choice for a quick trip to the pool or local swimming area. There is enough room for the essential items that one may need. I like the extra pouch to keep things that need to stay dry like money or a phone.

Lava Red With Hidden Treasures

I really do love my Rimmel Lava Red nail polish. This is two coats of it with Sally Hansen Hidden Treasures from the Salon Manicure line. This turned out to be an awesome coupling. I love the burnt orange and red to it. It shines so much that it looks like fire on your finger nails, especially in the sunlight. Rimmel Lava Red is a dark shade but not so much so that you can't tell it is red. Its a very vampy polish. Hidden Treasures is just that, hidden. You can't tell what this polish is going to do but it does seem to reflect the base color in an array of shades, though not always.

Nine and Company Green Handbag

This is a great handbag for spring. I know it seems a bit early but I am a kind of plan ahead kind of gal so why not. This is a bag I use for those long days away from home. During the beginning of spring I never know when it will be a nice enough day to enjoy the outdoors so I like to pack hopefully for this occasion. I am also very busy in the spring it seems and have a need to tote a lot of stuff with me. LOL I love the color for the season, by the time spring comes we all need to see green.

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

I adore Pearls!!! At least big pearls. These pearls are Pearlfection and they are amazing. They are called platinum colored but they are kind of a light tan color that reflect gold and greens, very pretty. The pearls themselves are about 12 mm, a nice size. They are great for wearing to work at the office, going out to dinner, church, or going out to an event, anywhere really. These are not your grandma's pearls to say the least. My parents gave me these when I started a new job, and I just love them. They are very heavy and start to make my neck hurt after a long day, but that is a good thing for pearls. To me it denotes luxury to have huge pearls, LOL!

Zoya Loredana with Wireless Top Coat

This is Loredana by Zoya with China Glaze Wireless top coat. I love the way this turned out. We experiment with our nail polish to find great combos and I think I hit the jackpot here. It is a very shiny gun metal with a holographic sheen. Amazing!! The original Loredana was on my like list as it was but this really helped it out, not that it needed it. The picture really doesn't do it justice as you really can't see the colors being reflected in the holographic top coat.
